Well, I actually started this new project a few weeks ago, not knowing it was going to become "A PROJECT".
I had been "playing" for most of the summer with microphones recording my voice, harmonicas, and various percussion objects around the house, boxes, litter jug, copper vessels, glass vases, etc... I was also experimenting with piezo pickups.
One day farting off on the web, I just happened to run across some pictures of homemade cigar box guitars on Pinterest, and thought they were cool.
So I decided to make one, which helped to pull me out of my "summer/covid19 doldrums". I already had some old cigar boxes and plenty of wood. So I ordered some strings, a pickup, and a set of 6 tuners, and when I got them started to build it.
But then I mentioned what I had been doing to my friend Randy, and he came by to show me some of his collection of musical instruments. And there it was, his beautiful high tech Aluminium Lap Steel, and that completely galvanized me and redirected my energies.
The cigar box guitar still has not been put together, but I have made my very own artsy Aluminium Lap Steel, and am already in the process of making a bass.
So let me just back up and document the Project so far as I usually do in a blog.
